FOCUS Hike4Life 2005: India

The Sahyadri Mountains in Maharashtra, India, was the destination for 78 hikers.

Mary Hassanali raised $125,000 for the hike in India. She also took part in the hike in Madagascar.

"I was 64 for the hike in India and I was one of the oldest ladies and my husband Nasrullah was 66 and among the oldest male hikers. I had received a letter from our Canadian Prime Minister congratulating me and he had sent me the Canadian Flag to hoist at the top of the Sayhadri mountains. He also gave me 200 friendship pins to distribute to all the people in India who helped with the hike. My motivation was to help humanity and help our Imamat institutional work in helping those affected by natural disaster around the world."
